Crosshaven Championship Regatta will be held on Sunday 13th May 2012 with a 9am start.

Reminder: The Titanic Row which was due to be on in Cobh this weekend has been postponed and will re held in September as part of the Great Island Row 2012.

The Annual General Meeting of the Coastal Rowing Association will take place on Monday 12th March 2012 at 7.30 pm in the Radison Hotel, Little Island Cork. All Clubs are asked to attend.

The Coastal Rowing Association are looking forward to welcoming East Ferry Rowing Club to our Association for the 2012 season.  East Ferry is a new club which was formed late in 2011 based in East Ferry.  This will bring our club number up to eight for the 2012 season.

The Coastal Rowing Association were delighted to hear the news that Passage West Rowing Club had been nomionated to receive a Community Award in Passage West this week.  The event itself took place last evening at the Passage West GAA lub where Johhny Byrne, Club Chairperson received the award from Michael Mc Grath, Mayor of Passage West.

 Shane Russell Chairperson of the CRA expressed his delight that they were chosen for the award saying: '  Passage West Rowing Club are most deserving of this award.  They have been a focal point of the community in Passage West since the early 1900's and it is a most fitting award'.

The Coastal Rowing Association have announced the regatta schedule for 2012.  There will be an increase in championship regattas from 5 in 2011 to 8 in 2012.  There will also be a number of fun regattas as well as other rowing orientated events.

At the Launch CRA Chairperosn, Shane Russell said '  It is great to see an increase in the number of regattas for 2012.  It goes to show that our association is strong and getting stronger.'  He went on to thank the clubs saying ' It is the host clubs of these events that I really would like to thank as I am well aware of the enormous burden associated with the hosting of a regatta nowadays and clubs are finding it hard enough to raise money as it is.'

Shane also noted that this year a new format will be used whereby each category will row in 7 of the 8 championship regattas.  All clubs have been briefed on this plan and it is hoped it will assist with the smooth running of the events.
